Strengthening young people’s transversal competences through peer mentoring

Stronger Youth is a project funded by the Erasmus+ programme with a duration of two years, from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2025. Its main objective is to provide a methodology and a comprehensive toolkit to promote peer mentoring in order to prevent depression and social exclusion among young people. The project focuses on enhancing social and communication skills through mentoring young people, offering them tools to assess their skills and receive feedback to become mentors. It also provides guidance for educators supervising the mentoring process and a series of activities for mentors and young people to develop social and psychological resilience.

The Stronger Youth approach is not only limited to a solid methodology, but also includes a comprehensive toolkit designed to facilitate the peer mentoring process. The project’s mission is to provide resilient young people with the necessary skills to support their peers through a variety of activities and tools.

The project consortium is composed of six countries and includes several expert partners in the field, including PRISM (Italy), acting as project coordinator, Pelican (Czech Republic), University of Évora (Portugal), VITECO (Italy), Frame (Poland), CPIP (Romania) and Innohub (Spain).

Kick-off meeting

On 31 January and 1 February 2024, the Kick-off meeting of the project took place in Évora, Portugal. This event marked the official start of activities and offered the opportunity to discuss some key points of the project.

Development of the Competence Assessment Tool

Currently, an online tool is being developed to assess the soft skills of young people. This tool will enable them to assess their own strengths and weaknesses in terms of soft skills and determine whether they are ready to act as a peer mentor. The tool will be accessible as an online self-test and will provide a diagnosis based on the scores obtained from the answers to specific questions.
